This is a Chanderi saree in a vibrant, richly detailed palette — and behind it is a story worth telling properly.
It was handwoven by Vijaya, an artisan who does not have the use of her legs. She wove this saree entirely by hand — both hands, and yes, both feet as well, using the loom the way she has adapted it to work for her. It took 12 to 15 days on the loom, start to finish.
The saree itself is woven on pure Mal Chanderi fabric, with booti work done entirely in ekalnaliya meenakari — a fine, detailed technique repeated consistently across the pallu, the body, and even the blouse piece, so the same intricate work carries through every part of the saree.
